James Kerr, Partner

James Kerr established Kerr & Kerr Partners in 2014 and is proud of the firm’s growing reputation within the legal community for delivering outstanding results whilst remaining approachable, accessible and affordable.

James graduated from Monash University in 2010 and was admitted to practice in 2012.

James advises clients over a range of practice areas including all aspects of commercial practice, property law and commercial litigation.  He also holds a Professional Diploma in Stockbroking and has completed the Agents Representative Course. 

Linda Kerr, Lawyer

Linda holds a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) from Monash University and was admitted to practice as an Australian Lawyer in 2019. 

Linda grew up in the United States and attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) for a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) degree.  She later worked in television news and production before moving to Australia in 1985. 

Linda advises clients in the areas of Wills and Estates, Family Law matters concerning children and property, and Commercial Practice including contracts, leases, shareholder agreements, sale and purchase of businesses and commercial litigation. 

Carlie Kerr, Finance

James Barnett, Lawyer

Carlie has a background in c-suite executive assistance and bookkeeping. Carlie grew up in country NSW and moved to Melbourne in 2014.

Carlie is currently attending RMIT University studying a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

Carlie manages the firm’s finances including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, the law practice trust account, and general administration.

Coco Yu, Lawyer

Coco holds a Juris Doctor degree from Monash University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Melbourne. She was admitted to practice as an Australian Lawyer in 2022.

Coco grew up in China and lived in New Zealand before moving to Australia in 2016. Prior to admission, she had been working in both property and banking sectors of the legal profession for over three years.

Coco advises clients in all aspects of property, both residential and commercial with the aim to provide client-focused legal services in a timely manner. Coco is fluent in English and Mandarin.

James has over 10 years’ experience in Property Law, and in recent years has added more strings to his bow in Commercial Law and Civil Litigation.


Originally from England, James lives on the Bellarine Peninsula with his beautiful wife and three dogs.


James advises and specialises in several fields including property development, related party transactions, retirement village matters, SMSF conveyances, sale of businesses, commercial leasing, shareholder and unitholder agreements, banking and finance matters including related party loans, and civil disputes.
